Cerro Coso Community College prepared for its accreditation visit conducted by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC). This visit, and the preparation that it involves, usually occurs on a six year cycle.
A team of community college professionals visited Cerro Coso in October 2012. A critical part of the preparation for their visit involved compiling a college Self Evaluation Report to address the mandated themes established by the accrediting commission.
Cerro Coso encourages a broad base of participation in the preparation of the ACCJC/WASC self evaluation. This participation reflects the diversity of the faculty, staff, administration, and students, and the belief of the College that a fair and accurate self evaluation is one of the best tools for improving the quality of education the College offers its students. Public comment was solicited for the Self Evaluation from April 24, 2012 to May 18, 2012. The report was reviewed during the month of May by a sub-committee of the Kern Community College Board of Trustees, the Kern Community College District Chancellor, and the Vice Chancellor of Educational Services and feedback provided May 29, 2012. The final draft was completed by July 25 and sent out to co-chairs and all affected parties for one final review. The document was presented to and approved by the Board of Trustees at its meeting of August 9, 2012. A presentation was given on the Self Evaluation to faculty during the fall flex day general session.
