ShakeOut

On October 17, 2019 at 10:17 a.m., Cerro Coso Community College will participate in the Great California Shakeout to test the college’s response to potential disasters.

Drop, Cover, Hold On!

  • At 10:17 AM, multiple methods will be utilized to indicate that the earthquake has started including a page on the phone system and/or megaphones and a text message on the CC Alert System. At this point, everyone should drop, cover, and hold.
  • At approximately 10:23 AM, the fire alarm and/or megaphones will sound for approximately 1 minute indicating that the shaking has stopped and that individuals are to evacuate the buildings. At this time, all individuals should evacuate to the appropriate evacuation site.
  • At approximately 10:30 AM, upon confirmation that the buildings are cleared, communication to the evacuation areas will be done via campus radio and a text message on the CC Alert System indicating that the drill is complete and instruct all to resume normal operations.

Cerro Coso Community College takes the ShakeOut and all emergency drills seriously. We practice disaster response in an effort to ensure our students, staff, and faculty are as safe as possible in case of an emergency.
