Life is full for Kenny Taylor, the new Systems Support Specialist at Cerro Coso’s Ridgecrest Campus. A family, school, job, and 2.5 hour commute every day keeps this science guy plenty busy.
Taylor has been working in the IT field for the past 20 years. He lives in Bodfish and worked for the Kern High School District for 10 years and spent 6 years working for Kern Family Health Care. Education is a top priority for Taylor, who says he has worked in both the private and public sectors and prefers the education environment. Computer science is his passion, because it encompasses all the things he enjoys - math, computers, engineering, and science.
When he isn’t studying, working, or driving, Taylor says he likes to conduct his own scientific experiments. Last summer he conducted the “gold and silver pennies experiment” using zinc and brass with his daughter.
Taylor and his wife, DaniLee, are both finishing up degrees and plan to transfer to four year colleges. They have two children: Steven (14) and Shyene (6).
Computers are part of just about everything that touches our lives today and without our computer engineers…the world ends. Maybe not, but in all seriousness we need our computer support and IT Team and Taylor’s bull-dog attitude and tool-bag of tricks makes him a great addition to the college IT staff. Welcome Taylor!
