Ward Has Knack for the Dramatic

New Paralegal Instructor Dawn Ward is not only a practicing attorney, she has a love for drama. In fact she married her knight in shining armor (real armor), David, at a Renaissance fair. The two met in Ohio while in college and recently relocated to Ridgecrest.

Ward, a 1995 graduate of Burroughs High School, originally came to Ridgecrest with her family when she was in the 8th grade. Her father, a retired aerospace engineer, worked on the development of the HARM missile at China Lake. She was active in drama in high school and says it helps build self- confidence, imagination, collaboration, concentration, problem solving, and, most importantly, communication skills—all vital skills in the legal profession.

As an attorney in Kenton, Ohio, she served as a court-appointed lawyer for juvenile, child services, and criminal law, and practiced in the area of family law. She is looking forward to helping students gain the knowledge they need to become successful certified paralegals and find work in the high-demand field.

In addition to her law practice, Ward taught Business Law part- time for the University of Northwestern Ohio and ethics and mediation at the University of the Rockies. She is looking forward to traveling less for work and spending more time with her 1.5 year old daughter Arya, named after the Game of Thrones character Arya Stark.

Ward holds a BA in Theater Arts from the University of Las Vegas and a Juris Doctorate from the Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law.

Welcome to Cerro Coso, Dawn.
