College Night at Cerro Coso Wednesday, March 9, 5:00pm-7:30pm

Community members, students, and parents are invited to College Night at Cerro Coso Community College on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 5:00pm to 7:30pm in the College Learning Resource Center.

The event is a great opportunity to visit the Ridgecrest Campus and learn about programs of study, admissions and registration processes, and student life at the college. Activities include live music, open art gallery, culinary delights, a parent orientation in both English and Spanish from 5:15pm to 6:30pm, and an orientation for new students from 5:15pm to 6:30pm.

The Administration of Justice Department will give a demonstration from 6:30pm to 7:00pm located in Module 9. A Readers Theatre will be held from 6:30pm. to 7:00pm. in the Learning Resource Center. Students, faculty, and community members are invited to bring an original poem or short story, excerpt from their favorite author, or a short scene to read with a friend, no longer than 3 minutes.

Faculty, staff, and students will be on hand to provide assistance with applying to Cerro Coso Community College and financial aid, and to share information about: academic programs, athletics, career and technical education programs, disabled student programs and services, student government, clubs, veteran programs and benefits, and more.

“When I’m at Cerro Coso I feel like I am at home due to the heartfelt welcoming of the staff. Also, I want to say Cerro Coso has motivated me to go out and do something with my life that is bigger than myself,” said student Matthew.

Whether a student is in middle school and just beginning to explore higher education options, or a high school senior planning their next step after graduation, this event allows families to gather information about the educational opportunities available at Cerro Coso Community College.

“I feel like I belong here,” said student Alexis. “I came to college right out of high school and I told myself that I was not going to college at all. Cerro Coso helped me grow up and made me realize that college is very important in life. Without it, I wouldn’t want to be anything. Cerro Coso has given me employment benefits and the essential skills to be successful.”
