PHOTO CAPTION: Students in Lisa Darty’s Art C121 class at Cerro Coso Community College were asked to work both individually and as a group to complete a large scale drawing - a reproduction of the well-known surrealist work, The Persistence of Memory, by Salvador Dali.
An image of the original was printed and cut into small rectangles. Each student was given a rectangle, which they were asked to draw at a much larger scale on 24" by 36" paper. Students worked collaboratively to plan and execute each drawing accurately and in a consistent style. After each student completed his or her portion of the drawing, the class as a group compiled the pieces and fastened them together to create the large scale, 10' x 12' drawing you see here.
