The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the need for more than 580,000 new and replacement nurses by the year 2018. Cerro Coso's Accelerated Nursing Program, for those who have completed the mandatory prerequisites, will enable more students to complete in 12 months and puts them on the fast track to employment.

The college is currently accepting applications for the new 12-month program which begins in January. Applications will be accepted through October 31, 2016. Applicants must schedule an appointment with the counseling department prior to the close of the application process. Counselors will be evaluating and confirming minimum requirements have been met. Upon confirmation of minimum qualifications, applicants will be scheduled to take a Pre-Admission test required for the application to be accepted. Last minute applications may not be evaluated in time for the 2017 Cohort.

Only complete applications meeting minimum requirements will be accepted as candidates for the 2017 Cohort.

Students who complete the Accelerated Vocational Nursing Program will be qualified to sit for state board for LVN licensure.
