Doctors and nurses aren’t the only important people in an operating room when someone’s life is on the line – surgical technicians assist them with life-saving procedures. New Admissions and Records Tech II Tayler Jones says she needed a change from her 60 to 70 hour work week in a Trauma Center where she performed a variety of tasks to ensure the health and safety of the patients in her care. Detail oriented, precision, good communication skills, and the ability to build relationships with co-workers are particularly important for surgical techs and will be a great asset to her in her new position in Admissions and Records.

At Cerro Coso we change lives too, and Jones is looking forward to interacting with students and staying busy in a lot less stressful environment. A Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps for six years, she now serves as a reservist in Patient Administration. Jones holds an Associate in Science Degree in Surgical Technology from American Career College, a Bachelors in Business Administration from Azusa Pacific University, and is currently working on her Master’s in Business Administration. The canine companion in Jones life is her border collie Zoey, and together the two like running, dancing, camping, fishing, and working on making her Jeep bigger and better, although admittedly Zoey is not much help in that realm. Tayler replaces April Naill, who took an Educational Advisor position at the Kern River Valley Campus. Welcome Tayler! Life is simple…sleep, eat, and Jeep!
