Looking to join the fight against cybercrime? Why not make a career out of it?

Cerro Coso Community College is proud to announce a new Cyber Security Technician Certificate and Associate Degree Program, beginning this spring.

Cyber security – the protection of digital information – is a top concern for consumers, business leaders, and government officials, and for good reason. More than 80% of U.S. companies have been hacked! Big name companies like Target, Sony, and Home Depot fell victim to hackers in recent years, exposing them to the harsh reality of cybercrime in the digital age.

The need to prevent these attacks from occurring has increased the demand for skilled cyber security professionals among private employers, the government, and non-profits. Cerro Coso’s new Cyber Security Technician Program was designed to fill a documented local need in the areas of cyber security, information security, and information assurance of service area employers. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics jobs in information security are projected to increase 37% through 2022 – much faster than average. The average annual salary for those with less than a Bachelor’s Degree is $79,617.

Intended for students pursuing professional employment in the information security for business, the Cyber Security Technician program provides students with skills to enter the job market as information security specialists, information security technicians, information assurance technicians, networking security technicians, and cyber security technicians. Perfect for both full and part-time students, the program is appropriate to both the currently employed and those seeking to enter the field.

Spring classes begin January 17, 2017. Call a counselor today at 760-384-6219 for more information.
