The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the need for vocational nurses to grow 12 percent between 2016 and 2026, faster than the average for all occupations. Cerro Coso's Nursing Program, for those who have completed the mandatory prerequisites, will enable students to complete in 18 months and puts them on the fast track to employment.
The college is currently accepting applications for the 18-month program in Ridgecrest and Lake Isabella which begins January 2019. Applications will be accepted through October 31, 2018. Please be aware that last minute applications submitted between October 25-31, 2018 deadline may not be evaluated in time, preventing applicants from entry into the 2019/2020 offering.
Applicants must schedule an appointment with the counseling department at their campus prior to the close of the application offering. Counselors will evaluate and confirm minimum requirements have been met for entry into the program. Once confirmed, applicants will schedule a time to take the Pre-Admission test that is required for application to be accepted. Testing is done in the Learning Resource Center (LRC) on the main campus in Ridgecrest.
Only completed applications meeting minimum requirements will be accepted as candidates into the 2019/20 cohort offering to include completing the Pre-Admission testing.

Students who complete the Vocational Nursing Program will be qualified to sit for state board for LVN licensure.
